TURIN, Arnold Asher – Peacefully on the evening of Friday, March 23th, 2018. Rabbi Arnold Asher Turin, beloved husband of Daryl Leiter Turin. Loving father and father-in-law of Raizy and Moshe Weiner, Rochelle Leah and Yisroel Travis, Miriam Turin, Naomi and Barish Braun, Devorah Chaya and Ari Horowitz, Malka Sarah and Gidon Moskovitz, Yeshaya and Leah Turin. Cherished brother and brother-in-law of Rabbi Avraham and Devorah Turin. Treasured Zaidy of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Devoted Rebbe to many Talmidim. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and many friends.

Memorial donations may be made at your discretion to Tinokos Shel Beis Rabban (Young Children in Jewish Day-Schools).

Shiva Details: Shiva visits immediately following interment, and daily from after Shacharis until 10:00 p.m. Shiva concludes Friday at Chatzos. After Wednesday there will be no Minyanim.

I am deeply saddened by the news of my Rebbe Rabbi Asher Turin's passing. I will always remember him as an extraordinarily devoted Rebbe who cared deeply about his talmidim and who added sweetness to the torah that he taught them. Yehi Zichro Boruch!

A tzaddik and friend to all. I was privileged to have him say a bracha under my chuppah. I particularly remember his incredible patience and kindness when davening at Baycrest when he would go from resident to resident carefully putting tefillin on those gentlemen who could not do so for themselves, ALWAYS accompanied by a smile and a compliment or kind word. One Tisha B'Av at Baycrest we were having a hard time getting a minyan in the main floor activity room for mincha. Finally we got 10 men, but no one could lein. So Rav Turin turned to me and said, "Marshall, you're up!" Then he held a Chumash next to the sefer Torah while I leined for the first time since my Bar Mitzvah! I would look at the Chumash he was holding, read 3-4 words, then read them from the Torah, and kept this up until we finished. I will always thank him for that zchus of leining for the Baycrest residents on that Tisha B'Av!!

Arnold Asher Turin was a very special and loving man, a dear friend of the family for decades. I found his willingness to share frank opinions to be eye-opening - really a revelation. His divrei Torah touch me, and inspired me to more learning and chiddushim. He will be missed.

I remember, once time Rabbi Turin was visiting my parents in Oregon, that he stayed up late learning Bereshit with me. It was the first time I *enjoyed* learning Torah. His approach was so invigorating. Years later, he was an obvious choice to marry my wife and I. Fast forward a few more years (when my wife and my brother's family established our own shul), and Rabbi Turin was a source of tremendously eye-opening thought processes about the fundamental issues we faced. He wasn't a psak for the shul, but he certainly made us *think* rather than just imitate those around us. And, as the years passed, Rabbi Turin stepped into our lives on many other occasions. None was more fundamental than the guidance he gave my wife and I over our years-long struggle to have children. He always acted with such fundamental kindness; and it was kindness that was the continual touchpoint of his Torah. May Hashem bless us with the ability to walk in the footsteps of a man we all loved.

Another student of Rabbi Turin for more than thirty years, in the wider Jewish world. He brought Torah to those outside his original community. Knew his great humility, friendship, kindness to all (lover of creation, as one of the hespedim said). His life was a great gift to all he knew, loved, influenced. His passing a great loss. Sadness now, and many loving memories to the family.
