Ralph Horowitz

Ralph Horowitz – On November 23, 2016, at North York General Hospital at 88 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Edith Horowitz. Loving father and father-in-law to Anna and Gary Naglie, Lily and Larry Tobis and Susi Tobe. Devoted grandfather to Eddie, Sherri, Rachel, David, Laura, Jason, Joshua and Paula. Proud great grandfather to Joshua, Aryeh, Ben and Ruby. Dear brother and brother-in-law to Rosa and Sam Weisberg and Barbara Hoffman. Adored uncle to Sharon and Aaron Jesin and their children. The family is immensely grateful for the compassionate care given by his caregivers. The family acknowledges the excellent care provided by the doctors and nurses at North York General Hospital. Funeral service will be held at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave. West, Thornhill on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Dawes Road Cemetery, 3169 St Clair Ave. East, Scarborough, ON, M1L 1V5. Memorial donations may be made to Israel Cancer Research Fund (416) 487-5246 or Canadian Magen David Adom (416) 780-0034.

Ralph Mandel

On behalf on my father Mark and Ann Mandel we are saddened to hear of Ralph's passing. When living in Toronto many years ago I would often stop at Modern Laundry to go to lunch..two Ralph's. As you should be aware Mark, Ralph and Sam Bresler were captured and sent collectively to Auschwitz and were Tatooed in sequence. The three of them separated, survived, went to Israel and then subsequently Canada. They were all successful, and great Canadians. May Ralph's memory be for a Blessing.

I am sorry that this message is two months late but I have just found out about the passing of Ralph. I am a tenant of Ralph's, living at his house on Walmer Road and even though I know Ralph had spent his last years in peace, I spoke with him a lot when he was still active running Modern Laundry. Ralph was a great guy, very kind and generous and he rented me a place at short notice on recommendation of a friend. Even though it has been years since I've seen him, I will miss his gentle ways. He was a kind compassionate man. Please accept my condolences to all his family at the sad passing of a man who earned the respect of everyone he knew. He will be missed.
