Raphael is survived by his beloved wife Patricia Weinstein, children Natalie Edery (Chris Snyder), Darren, and by Marc Weinstein (Elisa) and Joshua Weinstein (Ben Girling), and grandchildren Sonia, Benjamin and Daniel Snyder, and Jamie and Matthew Weinstein. He is fondly remembered by his siblings Marcos (Ora), Mercedes (Manuel), Estrella, Sarah, and Mimi (Chanoch), and by a wide circle of friends whose lives he touched through generosity and warmth.  Special gratitude to the caregivers who enriched his life, notably Fabiola Willams, Esse and Aurora Zepede, and Claudine Orata.

Raphael Edery was born December 23, 1938 in Tangiers, Morocco to a family of 8 siblings, rich in traditions of the Jewish Ladino community. He emigrated to France and then Israel, where he served in the IDF as a Sargeant, paratrooper and munitions specialist. He eventually made Canada his home, working as a Master Electrician, and as an Electrical Contractor Rea-Tech Electric. Rafael was generous with his time and resources to help others, repairing countless appliances and circuits, mostly in compliance with ESA standards.  In retirement, Raphael and Patricia enjoyed many adventures, sailing their yacht Babe at the Lefroy Harbour resort, traveling the world including a tour of Israel and locations in the Caribbean.  Raphael was well known for his vast knowledge of history, geography and world affairs, enjoying intellectual sparring and sharing his stories and wisdom in Ladino/Spanish, French, Hebrew, Italian, Yiddish, or English.

Raphael was deeply involved in Jewish communal life, an active member of Beth Radom and Beth Mayer, providing support for minyans and mentoring younger members of the community.
