Raphael Tal, 79, of Toronto, Canada, passed away on July 18th, 2022. He was Father to Sharon, Lilah, and Ayelet Tal and Grandfather to Barr, Abbigail, Hadass, Eilai and Rom Ariya. Raphael had been fighting aggressive cancer for a few months, and his family was at peace knowing his suffering had come to an end. Raphael was born in Morocco and made aliyah to Israel when he was sixteen. He was sent to a kibbutz where he was well integrated. He joined the Israeli defense forces (IDF), where he served in the paratrooper’s brigade and took part in several combat operations, including the Six Day War in 1967. In 1973, he was relocated with his family, by Solel Boneh, the largest construction and civil engineering company in Israel, to the Ivory Coast and later on to Nigeria. He managed national civil engineering projects until 1979 when the family moved back to Israel. A year later, restless and ambitious, Raphael moved to Canada with his family to start his own construction company. His first wife and daughters migrated back to Israel a decade later, but Raphael kept living in Canada until his last day. His family and friends will remember Raphael as a loving, caring, likable and amusing person. He often called each of his prominent family members in Israel and was very involved in their daily lives. He always expressed his longing to Israel and wished to make aliyah, but circumstances postponed his plans. He will be put to rest in Israel in the city of Ashkelon beside his beloved wife, Marie. The burial ceremony will be held at Ashkelon New Cemetery on Wednesday July 20th, 2022. The family would like to thank the community for their ongoing support.

The ceremony will be broadcasted live from Israel. Please see below for ZOOM information:
