Dear Grace, Moti, Natalie, Ben and Adam: I am extremely saddened to hear of Safta Rene’s passing. I felt like I grew up with her as my safta as well. I have weekly memories when Safta would be over at Grace’s house after school. She would be in the office talking to Uncle Eddie and then come out to chat with Ben and I. I loved spending time with her at many Shabbat dinners and simchas, she was truly wonderful and so easy to talk with. I feel fortunate that I saw how loving and special she was with her grandchildren. She will be missed. May her memory be a blessing.

Dear Grace, Moti, Natalie, Ben, Adam and family We were so saddened to hear of Rene’s passing. Grace, your mom was one of a kind. A woman of strength, determination and intelligence – traits which surely played a huge role in her surviving the Holocaust. We never got tired of listening to her story of survival, she was incredibly articulate. She knew what she wanted and made sure life would be lived on her terms. Even at her age, she mastered technology and stayed connected. Rene was always hungry to learn and teach and nothing could keep her down, not even steep stairs when she could not walk. She was determined to come to the Gold Passover and Rosh Hashana dinners, regardless of the physical obstacles. We used to love sitting back and listening to your mom and Dave. Listening to two survivors interact and celebrate the Jewish holidays together was a blessing for each of us. She was always impeccably dressed and soft spoken, the ultimate lady. A woman to be admired, she leaves quite a legacy of “menches.” Grace, she couldn’t have done it so graciously without you. We will really miss Rene. May her memory be for a blessing.
