Ronda Cooper

My sincere condolences to Tina, John, Cooper and the family. Ronda and I go back a long way and she was instrumental in helping me begin my career as an agent. We had many good times together working side by side for almost 30 years, and we even went on a trip to Italy together. She was a terrific agent who never stopped working for her clients. She and Penny Noble were my excellent mentors. She garnered love and respect from so many in our industry. RIP dear Ronda.. You were truly one of a kind..

My sincere condolences to your family on the passing of Ronda. She was my first (and best) agent before I became a teacher. A class act, fierce and caring, generous and thoughtful. The only agent who ever sent flowers no matter how obscure your gig was. She taught me a lot and her memory is definitely a blessing.

I am so lucky to have had Ronda as my agent in such a formative stage of my career. I remember my first meeting with her, moved by all her affirmations on her desk, and the tenacious spirit and belief she had that I had a place in this industry. I knew I was with someone who cared passionately and who had the capacity to make wonderful things happen. And she did. My heart and my condolences go out to her daughter Tina and grand daughter Cooper, who she talked to me about every time I met with her. She leaves a wonderful legacy in them and in the actors whose lives and careers she helped shaped over her years working at the Characters. My condolences to all who loved and knew her. ❤️

My condolences to Tina, Cooper and the entire family. I sit here in a theatre in Halifax, Nova Scotia typing this. Thinking about the time that I was a 16 year old kid from Regent Park, Toronto with dreams of being an actor in this industry. It was an introduction by a music teacher I had that put me in front of Ronda, whose exuberance, professionalism and glow I was able to witness on a daily basis. She was kind, upfront and motivated and I am lucky that on that day years ago she signed me and we worked together as client and agent for 20+ years. She helped guide me and we worked together to build me up into the man that I am today. Her faith in this young, black kid from Regent Park never wavered and through the ups and downs we always stuck together. I am so sad to hear of her passing, but in this moment I will think fondly of all of the moments we had together. How I watched as her clients thrived and understood just how hard she worked to lift others up and what a full and beautiful life she lived. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Ronda for everything you’ve done for me. An agent, a sister (not a mother, she’s rather be like my older sister than my mom or aunt ;)) and a friend. Rest well 💙

Ronda was my agent even before she technically represented me. When my original agent was away and there was an emergency, she reminded me of how she spoke to my late mom and told her that she would take care of everything. When I was represented by Ronda, I never had a relationship quite like it. I could be completely honest without fear of repricutions. I know that sounds basic, but I didn’t always feel that way. We all come to be shaped by our life experiences having an affect on us and mine probably produced a bit of fear. She let me be me. I was open with her about many things, including only taking certain jobs while devoting myself to raising my children and looking after my father. She was completely supportive and never made me feel like anything was impossible. When I first had my son she'd go out of her way to meet me in my area, where we'd talk and laugh. She fought with her teeth and she fought with her claws, but at the end of the day we were her children and she always made me feel safe. When Ronda stopped working for The Characters, I never made the move to sign with another agent. Partly I used lawyers for anything I needed, but mostly, I knew nobody else would understand me as Ronda did. Just a couple of days before she passed I had an overwhelming feeling about Ronda come over me. I'd like to think maybe at that moment she was remembering some of the same times I was remembering. I am heartbroken to hear this. My deepest condolences to the whole family. Ronda was my agent and friend for almost fifteen years and the world is poorer for her passing but far richer for having had her light in it.

Ronda was a gal who absolutely marched to her own drumbeat. I think it's the quality I admired most about her. You couldn't go to a restaurant with her without watching her interrogate the staff about their lives. She really loved people and was always so eager to engage. And folks always responded in kind, just flattered to have some genuine attention. Godspeed, dear Ronda. You can rest now.

I was very sad to hear the news of Ronda’s passing. Ronda Cooper was my devoted agent for over 25 years. She took me under her wing in the early 90s and we celebrated many successes. Her dedication to being the best agent was undeniable and her energy was unmatched. Witnessing her negotiate on the phone was a no nonsense dance. She was fierce. She never missed any of my openings, always sent a note with flowers, was available to talk no matter the time and never stopped believing in me. She often shared stories of her granddaughter Cooper and would occasionally flex her biceps after an early morning workouts. She was one of a kind. A real character. Ronda was my agent and my friend. We had many adventures together, and shared our families and our lives. I remember her energy, her sparkle and her love of family. I miss her.

Ronda was my agen for over 3 decades. I always said that you could call Ronda at 3:00 AM from set with a problem and she would do her utmost to come to your rescue. May she rest in peace. I remember her well and with love.
