We are sad to announce the passing of the inimitable Rose Mandelbaum on Friday, April 11th. Fierce, feisty, and formidable, Rose made a deep impression on everyone who encountered her. A Holocaust survivor who made the most of her 98 years on this planet, she was adored till the end by her loving family, who are incredibly grateful for and humbled by the compassion and care offered to Rose by the doctors, nurses, and staff at Baycrest, over these last difficult weeks of her life. Our heartfelt thanks to Kensington Place staff for providing joy and comfort for the last seven years.
Rose is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Celia and Leonard Golberg, son and daughter-in-law, Isy Mandelbaum and Pat Barrett, and son, Sol Mandelbaum. She is also forever cherished by her grandchildren, Shari Golberg and Benny Abramov, and Aviva Golberg and Craig Reid, and her incredible great-grandchildren, Ori, Nomi, Ezra, and Theo.
Predeceased by her husband, Harry Mandelbaum, her sister Tybel Ric, and her mother Riva Schumacher, as well as her father Israel Cebiski, and younger sister Sarah Cebiski who was killed during World War II.
