It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roza Mankina on April 18, 2024 – our mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was in her 109th year.  Roza was extremely devoted and loyal, not only to her immediate family but to her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.  She will always be remembered and admired for being a real fighter with a very strong personality who lived through so many hardships and difficulties of her time (revolution, civil war, famine, 2nd world war, evacuation, destruction of everything, building new life after the war, Jewish persecution and immigration).  As hard as it was, she was always able to get back on her feet and enjoy the simple joys life would give her.  She was highly intelligent, had a remarkable memory, liked to study, enjoyed reading and was always aware and interested in everything what was happening in the world.

She is survived by her children Isaac and Nina, son-in-law Viktor, grandchildren Ilya and Marina, Paul and Julia and great-grandchildren David, Veronica, Liliana, and Maxim, numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, Israel, and USA.  We will miss her deeply and will keep beautiful and remarkable memories of her.

In honor of Roza’s memory, memorial donations may be made to, Baycrest Foundation https://baycrestfoundation.org/, UJA https://www.jewishtoronto.com/donate, or JRCC https://www.jrcc.org/
