Rubin Morris Sugar

1933-2023

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Rubin Sugar, loving and devoted father of Jo-Ellen Tishler (Jeff) and Lisa Sugar; cherished grandfather to Jessica Nahmias (Jeff), Matthew Tishler (Aja), David Nahmias, Nicole Tishler (Laurent), Shane Feldberg;  great grandfather to Bria; dedicated brother to Helen Winer; predeceased by his wife Betty Sugar and brother Harry Sugar. He will also be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, and all his friends and colleagues. Rubin was a committed family man, brilliant lawyer and business man, and an incredibly warm-hearted and kind soul, with a  fantastic sense of humour and winning smile. He touched everyone’s heart who was blessed to know him and his legacy will live on forever and ever.

 Funeral service will be held at  Steeles Memorial Chapel 350 Steeles Ave. West, Thornhill at 1:30 p.m. followed by interment at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 986 Wilson Ave., Toronto, The Pride of Israel Section. A reception and shiva will be held after the interment at 33 Joshua Court, Thornhill until 5 p.m. and then resuming 7-9 p.m.  Shiva continues Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m..    We would like to thank all the staff at L’Chaim Retirement home for their love and care throughout his stay.  If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society  https://cancer.ca/en/
