Passed away on May 18, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of Simon for 61 years. Loving and devoted mother and mother-in-law of David and Debbie, Lisa and Kevin, and Jonathan and Corry. Cherished grandmother of Adam, Matthew, Samara, Aden, Noah, Kayla, Jacob, and Eliana. Survived by her sister Hessa, and brother Paul. Special thanks to Sheendy Gonzales-Gould, Dr. Melissa Melnitzer and Temmy Latner Palliative Care Unit team for their care and compassion.

Memorial Service Location: Chapel service at Steeles Memorial Chapel

Burial Service Location: Pardes Shalom Cemetery, 10953 Dufferin St., Maple, Beth Tikvah section

Shiva Details: Shiva on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at 575 St. Clements Ave., Toronto with Shiva visits immediately after the service till 8 p.m. The rest of the week - at 240 Heath St. West, Event Room, Main Floor, Toronto, M5P 3L5. Shiva visits Tuesday and Wednesday 1 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. only, Friday 1 to 4 p.m. Evening services at 7:30 p.m. Shiva concludes on Sunday morning.

Simon and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I had been in touch with Ruby by email a few times recently, but had no idea she was ill. I remember her successful efforts after her diagnosis to ensure PMH offered services to patients who had lymphedema. She was a beautiful and caring person.

I feel so enriched to have known my book club friend, Ruby Kreindler; she, from an urban centre in Canada and I, from a small town in Kansas, introduced by a mutual friend whom she'd met in Topeka, Kansas, also from Canada. That mutual friend, whom I met, coincidentally, in Jordan, not in Canada, formed a small book club of old and new friends of hers. Ruby and I were among them, some 10 or so years ago. Ruby's warmth, kindness, curiosity about our world, and willingness to share ideas both at our meetings and afterward were a joy in my life in these past years. And her strength and positive outlook in spite of the long duration of an eventually fatal disease was an amazing attitude in an individual for me to have experienced. I am so saddened that she'll not be with us in future. Her death is a deep loss, I am certain, for her family and old friends, but it is for this relatively new friend, as well. I shall miss her deeply.
