Ruth Silverberg

SILVERBERG, RUTH (Nee Englander). in Her 90^th Year, Passed away Peacefully, on December 14, 2022. Ruth was the matriarch of her loving family. devoted daughter of Harry z’l and Norma z’l Englander Loving wife to Wilfred (Willy) z’l for sixty-six years (together for over 70 Years), Mother to Steven and Robin, Paul and Karen and Larry. Grandmother to Nicole and Jeremy, Zack and Mandy, Lindsay Anne, Sarah and Omri, and Neil. Great Grandmother to Max and Madeleine. Sister to Adele and (late) Arnold Fogle. Loving niece to her wonderful aunt, Dinah Gelsin z’l.

Ruth was a very social person. She had many friends over her 90 years and enjoyed attending many events and dinners. Ruth was always well dressed and looking her best. Our Parents spent many happy winters in Florida, golfing and socializing. Our Parents travelled the world (including many trips to Israel) and embraced each trip with excitement and enthusiasm. She was an active and founding member of Beth Emeth Bais Yehuda Synagogue.

Ruth loved music, theatre, movies and television (soap operas) social activities, sports, (especially the Toronto Argonauts), travel, conversation, exercise classes, and spending time with her family and friends.

Our mother made our household happy and ensured that our holiday gatherings were memorable.

Ruth played Mahjong with friends for over 60 years.

Ruth lived a long and wonderful life. She will be missed.

Shiva will be observed after the funeral at 435 Worth Blvd., Thornhill till 2:00 PM, and then continue after 3:00 PM at 12 Croydon Road, Toronto. Services on Sunday evening will take place at 4:30 PM at 12 Croydon Road, Toronto, and shiva will continue in the evening from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

The remainder of the shiva period will be observed as follows:

12 Croydon Road: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM from Monday to Thursday and 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday.

435 Worth Blvd: 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM from Monday to Thursday.

Shiva will end at Synagogue on Saturday December 24.

Leonard and I have wonderful memories of your parents, especially playing golf with them, going out for dinner and the occasional barbecue at Hollybrook in Pembroke Pines. I go back to my childhood remembering them at Beth Emeth and in the Manor. Your mom was sweet, kind and loving. She left a legacy as did your father. The two of them were generous in their friendships and hospitality. They were quite a team. We are so sorry for your loss.

She was the epitome of a sweet, kind lady, who always asked how you were and was interested in hearing about my travels to Europe.
