Samuel Maurice Gilbert

Born July 13th, 1926 – passed away peacefully in hospital January 21st, 2021 at age 94.

Samuel was a kind and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather. Sam will always be remembered for his strength, wit, generosity of spirit, humour and dependability. He without fail always put family first. Sam was adored to no end by all that knew him and will be sorely missed by his family, remaining ever in their hearts, minds and fondest memories.

Sam is survived by his Wife of 72 years, the love of his life, Rachel & their 2 children, Son – Michael, Daughter – Brenda and Daughter in Law – Barbra as well as his 6 Grandchildren, their respective spouses & 7 Great Grandchildren.

Sam, or Uncle Sam as I called him till my 30's, was my father's best friend. Our families used to go out together almost every Sunday - sometimes to picnic in a provincial park, sometimes to go fishing. At one point in the early 1960's, Sam and my dad decided to get some extra income by creating a de-fogging spray called I-C-Clear. They bought: bottles, glycerin, distilled water, liquid soap; tubes etc. I thunk that they actually sold the first batch to Canadian Tire but there were no repeat orders. Neither of them had to worry about foggy car windows for the next several years. As families, we lived in and out of each others lives for decades. Uncle Sam, you'll be missed.
