Message of Condolence

Dear Dr. Sam was my mom's meal partner at their residence for many years. How he enjoyed telling wonderful stories of his life, and his love of his wife and children and grandchildren. He was so proud of their accomplishments. He so enjoyed Lawrence' visits on Sundays (pre covid) and visits to Anita's home where he was surrounded by a loving family. He had a clever, sharp sense of humour. He had such a varied interest in life and learning. I took special delight for his passion in collecting pens (and was even given one from his collection as a gift). Dear Sam, we will miss you. Helene and Denise

I’m so very sorry to hear of Sam’s passing. My name is Alyssa Gilman, I worked at Kensington for over 5 years and got to know Sam quite well. I’m also a Winnipegger and absolutely loved all of his stories. He always shared his Winnipeg memories with me, he truly loved that city and was very well respected as a physician. He knew my grandparents who owned the Donut House on Selkirk avenue along with many other friends of my family. I will always have fond memories of Sam, he was a wonderful man...a real mensch. My condolences to the entire family on this very difficult loss.

Dearest Anita and Family, I am very sad that my dear Samuel has left us. We were regular dining partners at Kensington for many years, and he always entertained us with his funny anecdotes of when he lived in the Winnipeg area. He was very proud of his family and always had a sparkle in his eye when he spoke of all of you. I will miss him very much and wish your family no more sorrows. Sincerely, Frances

I often saw Sam when I visited my mother at Kensington Place. He was either enjoying the sun just inside the Sheppard Avenue entrance or sitting in his walker outside on the street when the weather was warmer. He was very friendly and the kind of person that you wanted to stop and share a few words with. I was very sorry to hear of his passing.

Dear Guslits family, our sincere and deepest condolence on the passing of dear Dr. Sam, how we are honored to have known him and be a part of his life. He was such a kind and intelligent man, always stopping to say "hello and how are you?" to everyone, even through this Pandemic, he kept positive and always said we will get through this! His past and stories of his late wife and life in the Winnipeg were his highlight of his day and we loved hearing about it. May his memory be a blessing, we will all miss him- Warmest wishes from the entire team at Kensington Place Retirement Residence.
