My first memory of Sandy, was day I met her. She was telling me how she wanted to renovate her new Reena Foundation space on Cartwright Ave. She looped her arm through mine and said "Walk with me through my fantasy" She made that " fantasy " come true. Sandy played a pivotal part of our families lives for most of her Reena days. My mother, Elsa Chandler as school board trustee and Reena board member and Sandy were a dynamic duo. They were unstoppable. As an early Reena staff I learned so much from Sandy as a great leader and later as a true service partner with the same values. She was a legend and will always be remembered as such by those lucky enough to know her. Our deep condolences to her family and the thousands of family members lives she touched.

Dear Rena, Mark, Noah, Rebecca, Devin and the rest of the family, I remember when I was in high-school I always told Rebecca "your safta is my role model, and I want to be just like her when I grow up". Sandy was always so generous, open, and one of the most inspirational women I've ever met. She will always be one of my role models.

To the Keshen family. I was saddened to hear of Sandy's passing. The beautiful photograph of her brought me back almost fifty years. I remember her's and Rabbi Kelman's Z"L great efforts to carve out the foundation and their hearts and souls to make the Reena Foundation what it ultimately became. The teenagers and young adults with special needs would be able to walk into Beth Emeth with their heads high and feel validated, perhaps for the first time in their lives. As a matter of fact, to this very day, there is a Reena graduate, who is perhaps in his late fifties or early sixties who takes joy to help little Bais Yaacov School girls, teachers and neighbours and patrons of the Barbara Frum library and many others to cross safely, as a crossing guard. I see the confidence and happiness in his face, no matter the weather...he and so many others stand tall and have a self image as productive members of society and this is but one example of SANDY KESHAN'S successes! May her memory be a blessing and you, her family have so much to be proud of. Sandy will be remembered for all time by many people. My condolences to the Keshen and Wolanski family. Sandy was for us an incredible role model of a Jewish activist of kindness. I grew up in the wake of her waves, the influence she had on our family. What I learned from her is to go above and beyond, to care more and to be there for others. I remember when she came to Israel for my oldest sisters wedding in Jerusalem, and again came to my wedding in Philadelphia with all of the family. Our lives are forever in gratitude to having been influenced by her and I hope that in my life I could take a bit of her incredible courage she had to make a difference for another Jew or non Jew.
