On April 15 or 16, 2022 at Sunnybrook Hospital with broken heart and profound sadness we announce the passing of Sandy Ross. Beloved son of the late Barry and Shirley Ross. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Fern Ross and Brian Metcalfe. Loving father, uncle and great uncle. He will also be missed by his many cousins, extended family and friends. Sandy will always be remembered for his kindness and sense of humor. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the healthcare providers at Baycrest and the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Fern: You and Sandy were the first kids that I ever babysat for. Back then I always liked going to your house cause you had a colour TV before we did. I could watch Johnny Carson in colour!! I remember those times well. Your Dad called Sandy "Rossco." Over the years whenever I happened to cross paths with Sandy, he was always kind & friendly as if no time had passed. Fern you were an INCREDIBLE sister who went above and beyond to advocate and ensure that Sandy got the amazing care he did!!! You are a very kind caring and compassionate person and he was very blessed to have you as his sister. Sandy faced many challenges and obstacles over the past few years, but he was a real trooper. He always had a smile on his face and greeted those he encountered with respect and a welcoming hello. He loved life!! RIP Sandford.

I am heartbroken by Sandy's passing! We have been friends for the last 15 years and there was never a time that we spoke, that he didn't make me smile or laugh. Even in the face of the challenges that he faced in the last few years, he never lost his sense of humour or his joy for life. He was a character, that's for sure. But, he was also the kindest person that I've ever met. He would do as much for a stranger in need, as he would for someone that he had known for years. People like Sandy only come around once in a lifetime. He will surely be missed!! My condolences to Fern and her family, and to everyone that knew and loved Sandy!

Sandy, my euchre friend and a selfless person. As long as I can draw a breath of air, I will continue to volunteer for you. You never complained and no matter how you were feeling – not one phone call went by that you did not ask how my beloved dog was feeling. It will take some time, but I will stop dreading the phone to ring because I will hold in my heart your last phone call to me - last week from the Intensive Care Unit to ask how an innocent dog was feeling – how unselfish of you. You and my beloved dog will meet again. I’m so thankful that I got to tell you again how much I pull strength from you and I am sure that I speak for a lot of people.

Fern, while we never met personally, my Dad lived across the hall from Sandy. I remember Sandy was so excited when you ordered him Chinese Food on his birthday. I had brought in pizza also. I was so very upset to hear about Sandy. I just wanted you to know that he was such a nice person. He always helped my father with his television and always encouraged him to walk with him. I am still stunned that he is gone. My Dad and I will miss him. I am sorry for your loss and hope that he rests in peace.
