It is with heavy hearts that the family of Seymour Cohen announces his passing on September 26, 2024. Loving husband of Pat Cohen. Cherished father of Paula (Jared). Adored Zaidy of Katherine and Evelyn. Dear brother of Estelle Sherman and Howard (Coney) Cohen, and brother-in-law of Anne and David Viljakainen and Vicky Jones. Beloved Uncle of late Bryna and Harvey Diamond, Linda and the late Sonny Zabitsky, Jordy and Nathalie Cohen, Richie and Kat Cohen, Matthew Viljakainen, Andrew Viljakainen, and his many great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Louis and Pauline Cohen (nee Herscovitch) whom he treasured so deeply. Lifelong friend to many.

Seymour was one of a kind. He greeted everyone with a warm smile, had a wonderful sense of humour, and loved to kibitz. The cornerstones of his life were his love for his family and friends and helping others.

He was well known for his kind and generous spirit. He was a long-standing member of the B’nai Brith Leonard Mayzel Ontario Lodge and an active volunteer for many years. He received many awards and accolades recognizing his dedication to various community volunteer services including the Leonard Mayzel Ontario Man of the Year Award, the B’nai Brith Canada Volunteer Award, and the Col. Elliott A. Niles award.

Seymour enjoyed bowling, golfing, organizing tournaments, and adventures with his side kick the late Sonny Saltzberg.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A graveside service will take place on Monday, September 30 at 1:30 pm at the B’Nai Brith Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, Dollard des Ormeaux. Shiva will be held in the strictest of privacy. Memorial donations can be made to the North York General Hospital https://donate.nyghfoundation.ca
