Sheila Hops was accomplished in the Nursing and Medical Information Technology fields.

Her career spanned three decades at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal; and the Sick Kids Hospital, Mount Sinai, and Bloorview Macmillan in Toronto.

She will be dearly missed by her father Bernie, sister Lynne and brother-in-law Harvey, brother Stephen and sister-in-law Sharon, nephew and nieces Richard and Josie, Michael and Liora, Adam and Mark, Brandon and Emily, and grand nieces Lily, Zoe and Maeve, and grand nephew Isaac.

Carol and Jacob Abramson and family

Dear Bernie and Thelma, Lynne and Harvey, Steve and Sharon, and all the family, It is very hard for me to put into words my feelings at this time. I met Sheila at Concordia University in September, 1973 (50 years ago next week) in a math functions class. We became fast friends and stayed that way throughout our lives. Even when she moved to Toronto we remained in constant contact. I last saw her when she came in for Jacob’s 70th birthday party, when her illness was in its early stages. As time passed, and communication became more difficult, I continued to send her birthday cards each year with our pictures in it, in the hope that maybe she would recognize us, but it was not to be. I have many, many wonderful memories of my dear friend Sheila, as I know you all have your special moments to remember. I wish we could be with you at this time. Jacob and I send our love and heartfelt condolences to you all.

Donna Miasek

Sheila was a co-facilitator of the Connecting Rainbows support group in Markham for many years. I want to thank Sheila for touching the lives of so many women. She shared her extensive medical knowledge and her wonderful sense of humor. She gave encouragement and always positivity. She was a true friend to me, and to so many others. Knowing you, Sheila, has been a blessing in my life and you will never be forgotten. RIP, dear friend. Eleanor Mayne

I was deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Sheila. We became friends when we met in the condo we lived in. Stayed in touch after she moved, visited, went for lunches. She was a kind and friendly person and we did share fun times together.

Dear Lynne, Harvey, Steve, Sharon and all the rest of the family, It is so hard to write this condolence. Sheila was such a special person. I met her when we were 16 writing an SAT exam. They called out Hops and we both got up (my maiden name being Hoppe). We ended up taking the same bus home and a lifelong friendship was born. It is hard to imagine life without her. Josie Shaffer Rook

To Sheila's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Having known Sheila since we were both little girls I have wonderful memories of her from our childhood and adolescence. As young adults we both moved away from Montreal, yet we kept in touch over the years. Sheila was a positive person and always in good humor. Her many important contributions and accomplishments in the different areas of of nursing were remarkable and she was a tribute to her profession. I'll miss her and always remember her. May her memory be a blessing.
