Dear Marilyn and family, please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Shelly. I have known Shelly for 37 years in real estate and loved to sit and talk to him about stuff. I know he had been very sick for some time but it is always hard to think that someone you know well, is about your age has died. Shelly loved his grandson and always talked about his kids. I remember seeing you at Yorkdale and always asked how he was. You were always a wonderful wife to him. May his soul rest in peace, he was one of the good guys.

We’re 16, a Sunday at the old North Y and we challenge Shelly to an eating contest - hot dogs. I can’t recall how many he ate but it was my turn to buy again and the lady said she can’t serve us anymore. I got angry, wanted to know why we were being refused service. She pointed to Shelly and said “because he ate them all!” They had run out. Crazy thing, later we went to the Noshery for dinner. He was amazing. Such a good natured, very hard working guy. Both of us in real estate we bumped into each other often over the years. I used to drop into his office to see Paul Winston and always went to say hi to Shelly. So sorry to learn of his death. A good man has passed and a fun memory from our teens. My condolences to the family. I am away and will not be able to attend funeral or shiva. Sorry

We have known Shelly and his family for at least 50 plus years as a dear friend and as our realtor. As a friend he was kind, gentle, quick witted and had a heart larger than his big, warm smile. We admired his professionalism, brilliance and 'crystal clear' memory when it came to real estate... he knew who previously purchased the properties that he showed us and what was originally paid for them. We met years before we worked together in real estate at Homelife and the stories are endless of his sense of humour, and other times sitting together one on one, talking about anything. He was truly a very special person and was a very proud family man and a seasoned realtor.... He could make us laugh on a drop of a dime with his expressions and wit of comedy and shrewdness. Dear Marilyn and family : Shelly's passing came as a shock today and brought back so many great memories going all the way back to the mid '60's and more. We recall the 3 Shellys (S.T. z'l ; S. C. and Shelly H. z.l ) at The Puppy Palace on Bathurst Street as well as a few fabulous New Year's Eve parties. The Nortown Theatre at Bathurst and Eglinton one New Year's Eve still leaves us laughing. Shelly always was a source of genuine warmth and honesty and loved to regale everyone with his comedic timing in telling his endless jokes and one-liners. Knowing Shelly in his youth and later as a husband and then a father was a privilege truly. He will be missed incredibly by so many that were lucky enough to know him. Our prayers and thoughts to you and yours at this difficult time . Shelly was an original one of a kind guy that will always be missed with fondness.
