Sheldon Louis Maerov

1946-2025

Shelly died peacefully on March 3rd, 2025, with family by his side, after a lengthy hospital stay made easier by the caring staff at Sunnybrook Heath Sciences Centre. Shelly leaves behind his wife, Louise, his two sons Adam (Margie Sills-Maerov) and Simon (Kirsten Snider). His three grandsons Joshua, Jonah, and Jordan remember him as a loving Zaida who was always up for a snuggle and lending an ear to hear about their daily lives.

Shelly also leaves behind his sister, Cynthia Prasow (David Prasow), sisters-in-law, Catherine Keleher and Caroline Christie, his three nieces, Sarah, Rachel, and Deirdre, and one nephew, Patrick.

Shelly was born in Calgary with his professional life taking him to Eugene Oregon, back to Calgary, on to Edmonton, and then to Toronto. He was known to his friends and family for his warm and welcoming smile, his attentive ear, and his community service. He was always up for professional challenges and a discussion on the important issues of the day. Shelly was known as a kind and gentle man and a mentor to many.

Shelly will be missed daily as his family and friends share their memories of the good times.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto (https://alz.to/), the Calgary United Jewish Appeal (https://www.jewishcalgary.org/ways-to-give), the North York Harvest Food Bank (https://northyorkharvest.com/), or to a charity meaningful to you.
