In Memoriam Shelly Newman 1934 - April 29, 2020 It is with deep sorrow that I announce to the Canadian Electronics Industry that a veteran of our Industry, a good friend and mentor to many; Mr. Sheldon Newman, know to many as Shelley; passed away On April 29th, 2020. He would have been 86 May 15th. After working for Automatic Connector Corp, in New York in the late 1960’s , Shelley moved to Canada in 1970’s. He came to work for Ben Manis who then was President of Specialty Electronics Inc. Shelley worked there for over 10 years, building the business and selling what he knew best, connectors. During the many years of pounding the pavement across Canada and the US, Shelley’s tasks extended long past office hours taking care of his wife Sandy who had many health issues, and their only son Neil. Ever the loving, caring, attentive husband and father; Shelley took it upon himself to do whatever he had to do to take care of his family. About 10 years ago Shelly retired from the industry. Sadly, about 5 years ago, he developed advanced Dementia and had to be placed in a residence where he resided for the last 2 years. The Canadian Electronics Industry has lost a smart, resourceful and gentle man. Throughout his career, he certainly knew where to source connectors. He took great pride in finding new customers and in the success of booking new business. Shelley, you will be remembered as a pioneer in our industry. I am sure that those who knew you will remember your selling style and all your words of wisdoms and sayings, expressed in your distinctively deep, American New Yorker accent. Shelly always could be seen at Pumpernicks enjoying his steak a la Deutch, Snowden Deli, or the Black sheep lounge at Rib N Reef. Rest in peace my friend. Thank you for giving me the opportunity that you did way back when. Your mentoring gave me the wings to fly to much greater heights. Dear Aunt Sandy, Neil, Rhonda, and Chelsea, We're so sorry that none of the New York family could be with you on this sad day. With the passing of Uncle Sheldon, the only Newman sibling left is now my father Malcolm. What an amazing century Stella, Malcolm, and Sheldon lived through. They were children of the Lower East Side who grew up during the Great Depression and World War II, events that shaped their lives and which are still shaping our lives today. The passing of their generation marks the disappearance of a whole world and way of being. We will miss them. May Uncle Sheldon's memory be for a blessing.

We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Neil, Rhonda, Chelsea and the entire Newman family on the loss of your beloved Shelly. We have many fond memories of our outings with Sandy and Shelly and greatly admired the way he always took special care of her. Shelly was a great story teller and had a special rapport with everyone he encountered. May his memory be a blessing.
