In memory of Shirley Revlyn Gross. A South African native, Shirley (nee Smith) was born in 1948, and grew up in Germiston, a suburb of Johannesburg.  She was a multitalented young woman who worked for a time at the South African stock exchange, then later as a valued assistant in a large Johannesburg Eye Clinic.  Wishing to escape the political and economic strife of her homeland, she and her parents, Morris and Hannah, followed her brother Eric and his young family to Canada in 1980. Soon after arriving in Toronto, she found employment with her future husband Moe, going from being an optometric assistant to office manager in a short time.  Shirley became well known in the industry because of her people skills, endearing herself to her many loyal patients not only with her charming diction and accent but because of her amazing memory and the care and concern she had for those she took care of. Shirley passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning after an extended illness.  She was predeceased last year by her brother Eric and is survived by her loving husband Moses, Sister in Law Stephanie, Step Daughter Esti, Step Son Jordan, her grandchildren Kevin and Mackenzie and nieces Nina, Kerry, and Leah.
