Our condolences to the entire Weinrib family, I have so many fond memories growing up on Bayhampton, with the Weinrib Family only a few doors away. Gillian being one of my first lifelong friends. Dr. Weinrib (as I referred to him) was the tallest man I'd ever met. A gentle kind man, sort of like the Gentle Giant to me, always with a smile on his face and a warm tenderness about him. Post-Bayhampton Days, we reunited occasionally at Bagel Plus with my Mom and Dad (Rose and Sam). Marilyn and Sid would chuckle about the famous "black-out of '65" which led to my existence! They would reminisce about their old house and how well built it was. It always made my Dad so proud!! He would respond "I'll buy the house back any day", and they would all laugh! To the Weinrib family: Baruch Dayan HaEmet. I grew up on Fernwood, around the corner from the Weinrib home. I was a friend of his brother, David, with whom I had lost contact, many years ago. I remember Sid, as the older brother, who looked upon us as mere kids, being a number of years younger than him. This disdain was standard practice. It is a wonder as to the many years that this connection spanned. Should David wish to make a connection, my number is 647-262-0854. May Sid's memory be for a blessing to his family and friends.

Dear Marilyn, Gillian, Tracey, Alison and Len I was so sad to hear of Sid’s passing, and although our paths haven’t crossed for a number of years, I can honestly say that I have often thought of him. When I first met you all in Toronto, Sid welcomed me into your family with kindness and generosity. It was winter, and as I’d never experienced quite how cold it is in Canada, he joked and laughed at my inadequate British winter clothes, lending me jackets, gloves, and scarves. I’m sure when we flew back to London, he probably had to restock the bar with more gin and vodka. I will always remember the times I spent with him in both Toronto and London, and the many breakfasts we enjoyed together. In London, he grew to love the way the Brits made Eggs Benedict and became obsessed with hollandaise sauce. In Toronto, he took me to various diners, introducing me to his friends who were always pleased to see him and more amazingly seemed to be genuinely interested in me. I’m reminded of the saying, "By his friends, know him." He constantly teased me over my choice of hire cars, saying, "You do love those American cars," but when else would a Londoner get the chance to drive Cadillacs and Lincolns? The last time we spoke, he was, as usual, a great listener, kind, understanding, fair, and honest—the qualities that I had always admired and that he’d always shown to me. I will always remember his smile because his eyes smiled as well. I am so sorry for your loss. Richard Anderson
