It is with deep sadness that the family of Sidney David Schecter announce his peaceful passing, at 63 years of age, on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Mackenzie Health Centre, Richmond Hill site.

Son of the late John (2000) and late Betty (2019), Sid is survived by his brothers Gary, Larry and Mark, his sister Robin and a large extended family. Sid will be missed by his close group of friends from high school, bowling leagues and tennis clubs. The family would like to acknowledge, with gratitude, the many years of friendship and support given to Sid by Jean (Dmitri).

As a long-service Auditor with the Canada Revenue Agency, those who did not know him often trembled in fear when he paid a visit. For those who did know him, Sid had an off-beat sense of humour and an awkward, welcoming laugh.

Sid lived a quiet, unassuming life. His Schecter DNA made it a certainty that he would possess its most dominant trait – stubbornness. And that trait carried him through his final health challenges, which he fought with quiet determination and without complaint.

Sid especially loved tennis, bowling, his Raptors, Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and the Carpenters. He would spend hours watching basketball games with our mother – each one trying to out-coach the other. Hopefully, Sid is now engaging in another favourite pastime – bantering with our parents like he used to do so often.

A Family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
