I spent a good part of my youth in the Berman Household. In all my years I never saw Solly get angry. Always a smile. He loved Miriam and she him in return. The perfect war years couple. Love and respect for each other and the community as a whole. I saw Solly a little over a year ago at his great grandson's bris. He gave me that Solly smile. I will hold that memory dear. Condolences to the Berman family.

The friendship of the three musketeers meant that I have many fond memories that extend back longer than I would like to admit. Solly remains one of my favourite cousins of my parents generation; spending time with him holds a special place in my memories: the cigar, the smile and stories about adventures with my dad in their youth. In fact Solly was the only member of the extended family who talked about my dad after his passing at such a young age. For that I will always be grateful. David, I am sorry to read about the passing of your dad. I remember the years we played baseball together and he and my dad would sit together watching at Clanton Park. I can still remember the smell of the cigar that Solly would be smoking. He had a good long life. He was a nice and gentle man and I am very sorry for your loss.

I spent my teenage years with The Berman’s. They were like family to me and Arlene was my best friend. They all welcomed me at 227. As a couple Mr. and Mrs. Berman always seemed so happy together and had true love for each other. I was at David’s bar mitzvah and the family even seated me with them! They were all a life saver for me for many, many years. Mr. Berman was a quiet man who worked so hard, both day and night. His kindness always shone through. Mrs. Berman was a wonderful homemaker, not to mention a great cook. April 1st is Arlene’s yartzeight, so I will be thinking of both Arlene and Mr. Berman. They are missed.
