Stanley Michael Mednick (May 15, 1944 – September 29, 2021)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Stanley Mednick, beloved husband, father, Zaida, brother, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Barbara, son Marc and daughter-in-law Marni, and daughter Carrie and son-in-law Bill. He will be missed by his 6 grandchildren Abbygale, Brodie, Zachary, Liam, Shawn and Averie. He leaves behind 2 older sisters Dolores Bloch and Hinda Brody.

In lieu of gifts memorial donations may be made to Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative care 416-586-8203 ext..3936 and the Canadian Cancer Society 1-888-939-3333.

Stanley sat behind me in grade 1! Mrs. Rivett, teacher. Stanley and I were friends. I remember him well. I haven't seen him in years, but I somehow feel I saw him yesterday. With glasses, just like me. Two Jews! May the family know no more sorrow. I write with fond fond memories.

Beverly and I are so sad to hear of Stanley’s passing. When we lived in Toronto we loved sharing shabbat meals over at Yetta’s and passover seders at Stan and Barb’s. Always very welcoming and good people. Love Leo and Beverly Mednick.

I only got to meet Stan once when he and Barb drove down for our wedding in KY, and he made an immediate impression. I’m lucky to have gotten to meet him, and I enjoyed talking to him on phone calls for special occasions. He made me feel like part of the family, and I’m sorry that covid prevented us from visiting Canada and getting to spend more time together.

Dear Barbara and family: It's very hard to believe that I won't have my co-chair Stan around anymore when the annual Father's Day Walk Run fundraising event takes place. He helped us raise a lot of money for prostate cancer research over many years, aside from helping many men who were diagnosed with prostate cancer. Please accept our sincerest condolences and we pray that you never have to go through such pain again. Jerry remembers visiting Stan at TGH on a Saturday morning, the day after his surgery. He did not find Stan in his room but did find him walking the corridors of the 6th floor, less than a full day after his surgery. Stan always kept the Prostate Support Group updated with respect to his cancer journey at the bi-monthly peer support meetings, he was a great fund raiser, and a great role model for the group. who is missed already.

Stan was one of those people who was supportive when I was diagnosed with Pca and he was there at Tuesday night meetings help those who were newly diagnosed, with good, sound information.
