These words are not those of grief though we are sad. They are not words of sorrow yet we mourn. These are words of simcha for that is how our Father lived his life and how he would wish to be remembered.

As a beloved brother to Carrol (Larry) and Marshall (Shindy). As a devoted father to Matthew (Alona), Sarah (Ira), Ellie (Suzanne) and Shuli (Cary). And as a loving grandfather to Chaim, David, Elianna, Eliezer, Shayna, Evan, Eva, Michelle, Roey, and Molly.

Stephen had a lifelong passion for the art world and leaves behind a legacy of contributions to museums, universities and galleries across Canada.

He had a love and regard for the law which was his vocation in one form or another for most of his adult life.

Stephen was a pillar of the Toronto Jewish Community dedicating his life to the support of Synagogues, Schools, and Jewish Outreach. His door was always open with a kind word and an attentive ear. His particular commitment to such institutions as Ohr Somayach and NCSY have earned him the respect and gratitude of the thousands of lives he inspired.

If wealth were measured in the acts of giving to one’s community then he lived a rich life. If courage were measured in the acts of selflessness, then he was a hero. And if longevity were measured in the lives one touched, then he is immortal.

Quick with a smile and with l’chaim in hand it is to be certain that he will now and forever be surrounded by family who are like friends and friends who are like family.
