ANKER, Steven Mitchell On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre. Mitch, beloved husband of Meg, loving father of Rebcca; dear brother and brother-in-law of Sheryl and Matthew Fensin, and Cindy and Saul Goodman. Loving son of the late Gordon and Bernice Anker. Devoted son-in-law of John and the late Beverley Selby. Mitch will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. A family graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020. .Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at 1.888.939.3333.

He was kind and we walked home together on many evenings. my fondest memories of Mitchell were his happy disposition at 7 AM swim practices and some of the fun pranks we used to partake in. Mitchell contacted me about 2 years ago and i caught up on 30 years that we had without contact. I heard about Meg and his very special love Rebecaa. She had recently had her bat mitzvah and he was so happy with the way his life was turning out. My sincerest condolences to all of you _ Mitchell will be missed by all that truly knew him.

I grew up across the road from Mitch. Mitch was always kind and helpful. He built a bike when he was younger, it was ahead of its time, it was amazing. He saw that I really enjoyed biking. He lent it to me on a permanent basis. When, like all bikes , it was stolen, he was not mad, he took it in stride. It was an important lesson for me. Mitch, I have no idea, actually, but I believe was around 5-10 years older than me and when I was 15 or so it was a great lesson in kindness and patience. May his memory be a blessing and my condolences to the family...

He was very close, kind and supportive at a time when I truly needed a close and caring friend, He was warm and funny in the many hours we spent together and was also a wonderful companion as we studied together back in our days in Uni at York trying at that time to become accountants. Later, I was glad to hear that he had steered himself successfully into a new career path as an Optician. Dear Meg and Rebecca, We were all so saddened to hear the news. Mitch's laughing attitude and smiling happy nature always made all of his friends feel so great. Mitch always bragged about both of you, didn't matter if its was Meg going up to camp on the buses, or when you played in the North Toronto basketball league, both of you lit up his life. Mitch was a cousin of mine. So you will know who I am, My grandfather was Jack Dubiner, and Freida Anker was my great-grandmother (Bubbie Freidela). My mother is Marilyn Herman. I was not close with Mitch in recent years, but I knew him to be a kind, gentle, and very nice man. We spoke often while he had the optical shop at Honest Ed's. Mitch was very encouraging during a difficult period in my life, and I am grateful for that. He is missed, and I will remember him with lots of love.
