It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Bensimon, devoted wife to Joseph (z”l 2022); beloved mother to Jack (Shawn), David (Ying), Lia, Simone (Michael), Sari (Brian); and Savta to nine cherished grandchildren: Yomi, Daniella, Talia, Zoe, Nicole, Theodore, Piper, Bentley, and Breitling. Terry will be deeply missed by her siblings Cheryl and Dan (Nancy), and many family and friends.

Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Terry became an English teacher, mother of five, and, alongside her husband, a notable fixture in the Vancouver Jewish community. She took great pride in Bensimon family philanthropic endeavours at home and abroad. During their 60 year marriage, Terry and Joe travelled the world together, filling their lives with unique cultural experiences and beautiful artwork from across the globe.

Terry loved to read, listen to opera, and play Scrabble with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her warmth, grace, and love of laughter.

In 2007, Terry received the gift of life—a kidney transplant that gave her 18 additional years with her family. She died peacefully on January 22, 2026 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, with her children by her side. Terry will return home to be buried next to Joe in Jerusalem, Israel.

Toronto shiva details to follow.
