Valerie Chippin

Valerie Ivy (Frank) Chippin passed away on January 15th, 2021 at One Kenton Place peacefully with her family by her side. Born in Montreal, Valerie moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick after meeting her beloved husband Bernard and started her family there. She was involved with the Sisterhood and Hadassah and volunteered at nursing homes feeding the elderly.

Valerie loved being around people and hosted many holiday get-togethers with family. She always looked her very best no matter how she felt and her love of fashion was passed on to her granddaughters.

She now joins the love of her life Bernard Chippin, adoring son Seth Chippin and her parents Jack and Rae Frank.

She is survived by her daughter Natalie Chippin-Lipkowitz (Sidney) and Granddaughters Jaclyn and Rachel Lipkowitz (Zachary); her brother Kenny Frank (Francie) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Valerie became my first friend when I arrived in Fredericton as a new bride in 1959, and Bob introduced me to his best friend Mike and his wife Valerie, who were not only friends, but family as well. Throughout the years, our relationship was one of loyalty and devotion. It is with great sadness that I have said goodbye to Mike, Seth, and now Valerie. I will miss her terribly.

Dear Cousins My most prevalent memory of Valerie is from decades ago when I found myself at a UNB hockey tournament. Like most teenagers, it was not on my agenda to call a cousin to let them know I was in town. I was there with my teammates and was concentrating on winning games. Valerie however heard I was in town. Determined to find me, she called all the motels in town, figured out where I was and came bounding into breakfast on the Saturday morning. Once she knew exactly what time my games were, she let me know she would be back at the appropriate interval to take me on a much-needed tour of the city. I don't remember a thing about the tournament, but I remember how much fun I had with Valerie that day, and how much I enjoyed Fredericton.
