My sincerest condolences for such a wonderful man .when I was in shul I would enjoy to no end when Vernon would daven marriv Sat.nights .I would enjoy encountering Him in the downtown pathways in the financial district .we will truly miss such an all around decent friendly Prince of a guy .

To the entire Balaban family. I go way back with Vernon when we lived downtown and went to Bais Yehuda together. In fact Vern ran the shabbos junior minyan program which I attended. Whenever I came to viewmount Vern would remind me of our past association. He was always first to greet you with or without a pushka. Rochelle and family, I'm sorry for your loss. For many years Vern was active on the Toronto Mizrachi Council. I knew Vern personally. He was someone who cared a great deal about the welfare of the local Jewish community and about Jewish education. He did whatever he could to promote and support religious Zionism in this country. Vern leaves behind a good name and a legacy of good deeds. On behalf of the leadership and membership of Mizrachi Canada, I extend our sincere condolences to the entire family.

Dear Rochelle, Sorry I’m a bit late to come upon this news. I still remember the first time I met your late husband. He asked “what kind of nice Jewish girl wears three earrings in one ear ?”, and I replied “what kind of name is Vernon for a Jewish man?” Although I only saw him a handful of times, he stood out because he was always joking around and making me laugh. The last time I saw him he had recently been diagnosed with his illness , and I know things became very difficult the last few years. My deepest sympathy to you and the girls.
