On January 18, 2017, Walter beloved husband of Freda. Loving father and father-in-law of David and Rumi. Devoted grandfather of Yui. Walter will always be remembered by his many nephews and nieces. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave. West, Thornhill. Interment to follow at Pardes Shalom Cemetery, Habonim section. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (416) 489-7111 or charity of your choice

With great sadness do I read of our Walter's passing away.My in laws the Binders have known Walter since the days of WW2 in England. I have known Walter for at least 45 years.What an intelligent friendly and always interesting man.May his memory stay with us and be a. guide in our lives. We are very sorry to hear of Walter's passing. He was a dear friend to my parents and to us. We always had great respect for Walter and held him in the highest esteem. I have known Walter for most of my life and he was master of ceremonies at Esther and my wedding. We will always remember him fondly.

My father, David, my brother, Robert, and I were all deeply saddened to hear of Walter's death. I first met Walter when he was working for my grandfather. He then worked with my father for over two decades and then was kind and generous enough to serve on our company's board for many years after his retirement. Every one of our business colleagues admired Walter's sharp mind, humour, and humility. Even well into his 80's, Walter would make our auditors cringe during audit committee meetings. My father would often lament that the days were gone when he and Walter would "just get things done." He had the utmost respect for Walter's work and how he conducted his life. I am very sad about Walter's passing. He was a great person and friend to me, my parents, and grandparents. He was master of ceremonies at my parents' wedding. He was a Holocaust survivor and knew what it was like to endure the most difficult circumstances imaginable. Perhaps that is why he was always eager to help, not only when times were good but also when they were bad. He will always be remembered and missed. Condolences to Freda, David, and family. Some years ago I found a letter in KINDERTRANSPORT NEWSLETTER fom Walter Steuerman z'l mentioning the hostel in England which housed forty refugee children (1939) saved from german occupied Europe, I was also there . The hostel "SHERRARDS" a 19th centuary mansion, was situated on a 9 acre estate in Hertfordshire. I obtained his ph. number and called him to have a long conversation to exchage our histories. I live in Israel since 1948 but I have pleasant memories of Walter.
