We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Willis Eder at Kensington Place on February 27th, 2024. Son of the late Samuel and Isa Eder. Brother of Adeline Eder. He dedicated his life to his fur-baby Marley. We would like to thank the staff at Kensington Place for their care and compassion.

So sorry for the loss of a fine man. We spent much time together with our dogs in our backyard. He always had interesting stories to tell and did everything he could to take good care of his sister. He will be missed. RIP Willis

I cried in the waters where I swam on this difficult Wednesday afternoon, and tears stream down my cheeks as I write this message. Shocked and a heavy hearted, I come to realize that Willis will no longer be visiting the front desk, or the dining room, or rolling by in the main lobby. A kind hearted, sometimes goofy - but nonetheless, very sensitive, caring & brave guy, Willis always wanted to help, support and connect with others. He left a mark on us here at “…Kensington”, such that the other neighbours ask what they can do - as they share in the sadness. Gone, but not forgotten. Long live the memory of Willis Zeev Eder who passed away on Chai Adar I, 5784. Rest in peace Willis. May your soul be guided & guarded; directed and protected; kept safe, free. You’ll be missed & loved bc you’ve managed to carve a space in our hearts. I met Willis in jr. high school . When he switched high schools during or after the first year we went on own paths . We bumped into each other about a year or so ago .and a couple times after that as we lived close by and frequent the same No Frills . Not seeing him for a couple months i learned that he had a series of health setbacks in quick order . I spent an afternoon with him at his new residences last Tuesday and got to hear about his family , his working career etc. and of course his love for his dogs . Needless to say it was a shock to hear of his passing . I'm sad that he's gone .

My sincerest condolences to the Eder family and relatives. Such sad news for "A gutte neshomoh'. Willis was always so gentle, kind and very giving every time that I had ever had any contact with him. I looked forward to his humorous e-mails that he was kind enough to share and send to me as part of his group. This world would be a much better place if there were more people like him.

I think Willis z"l would be so touched by the beautiful messages. When he was in hospital, he marveled at the visits he received "people really do care about me." We connected while he was walking his precious dog Marley, then regular visits to our house. We had spirited discussions on a variety of topics- he had strong opinions and knew what he wanted. A generous and kind soul. Resilient with the challenges he faced. An interesting life with horse racing, government work, adopting rescue dogs, hanging out with his good friends at favorite places to name a few. Suspect you are having some engaging conversations with G-d. Please convey your messages of justice and kindness to the world. You and Marley are in our hearts forever

I will never forget my friend Willis z"l. I first met him years ago as teens when he worked at Steinbergs at Bathurst and Sheppard. Then later we worked together at Revenue Canada. I always enjoyed our conversations. I often met him in his neighbourhood as he walked his beloved dogs. Communicating on the computer was an important part of our relationship. My visits with him at Kensington Place were always filled with laughter. As mentioned, he really did love a good joke and he was an excellent storyteller. He was a kind, gentle man. Willis z"l may be gone but my memories will stay with me.

To Willis's family, friends and loved ones. Willis was a wonderful friend and neighbour. He was a very sweet man, full of caring and compassion for everyone is his life. He always had a soft spot for all things dog related, had a great sense of humour and was a true "schmoozer", always offering a kind word whenever we saw him around the neighbourhood. He will be sincerely missed by all of us who had the good fortune of knowing him.

We were so sorry and shocked to hear about the passing of dear Willis, z'l. He was a kind, giving man who loved and took wonderful care of all the many dogs he owned throughout his life. He had a special connection to his last dog, Marley and was brokenhearted when he needed to be put down just last week. We always enjoyed and looked forward to Willis' and Marley's visits to our home. We'll miss Willis very much and we're sure that he will be missed by everyone who knew him. We wish his sister, Adeline, only good things for the future.
