Suddenly on November 26th, 2020, at Toronto Western Hospital. Willy Gnat, beloved husband for 52 years of Gayle. Devoted father of Michael & Whitney, Jordan & Lisa, and Kevin & Karen. Exceptionally proud grandfather of Emmy, Kendall, Alex, Lauren, Colton, Teagan, and Grace. A man of immense pride, he was respected by everyone he met and conducted business with. He was a giant in the industry he helped create. His loss is immeasurable by his family.

Just heard about the sad news and my most sincere condolences to the Gnat family. My relationship with Willy goes back over many years and we shared many chats and experiences together. His integrity was without question in my eyes and to us a handshake was his word. He sincerely loved his family and I was lucky enough to basically watch" the boys" grow into solid replicas of their dad. A lasting legacy of a proud man. I shall miss him.

It was 50 years ago that Willy and his lovely brother Albert came to our home to wallpaper a bedroom preparatory to the arrival of the first child of my wife Ricky and me. Willy invariably maintained that spirit of helpfullness on the occasions when he and I met one another. While utilizing his good sense of humour in recounting a tale to me, he had the ability to bring a smile to my face and lighten my day. No doubt, he was a mensch. Condolences to the Gnat family.

The passing of Willy Gnat Z'L is the passing of someone who was genuine, kind and respected. He was legendary in the business he helped create for decades and mentored many. Willy and Albert and my brother Joe were close friends from childhood and shared exciting and youthful adventures travelling through Europe and the Middle East. As families we shared many joyful as well as sad occasions with Willy and his family. I last saw Willy on September 22 at Joe’s funeral and we had a very meaningful and touching conversation.
