We are devastated to announce the recent loss of our musically infused wife, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, advocate & teacher, Ariella Getrajhendler.

Her passion for life permeated her devotion to her family, animal rights, Holocaust education, Zionism, Hashem and a love for Torah study.

Innumerable lives will forever be impacted by her enthusiasm, and impressive annual musical productions, throughout her joyous teaching career (aka Ms. G of Forest Hill).

Please remember, appreciate and mourn with us.

Rest in peace Ms. G. You put on the best plays, I remember being so excited to be a part of them. It felt so professional; you could NOT be late to rehearsal! Thank you for bringing out my creative side.

Ms. G was one of the most memorable and impactful teachers I have ever had. Her passion for the arts and social activism shaped my early teenage years and I have many fond memories in her classes. I remember in middle school she would let my friend group go to her classroom during lunch. We would dance and sing and Ms. G not only joined in, but encouraged us to explore our creativity. She taught me how to have fun and not take myself too seriously. When we covered her car with post-its on April fools day, she was not upset like most teachers would be - she thought it was hilarious and very creative! She was a force and a positive role model for myself and my classmates. I am so deeply saddened to hear about her passing and send my condolences, love, and strength to her family and friends.

I miss you already Ariella!! You were a shining light in the darkness and I am so grateful to have called you a friend for so many years. We sure had some good laughs together. I admired your love and passion for Judaism, animals, and life; what an inspiration you were to the entire world, but especially to your students at Forest Hill, your loving friends, family, and to me. My heartfelt sympathy to Ariella’s husband, family, many friends, and former students – so many who loved her and will continue to keep her in their hearts. Such a special woman who lived a good life, driven by her love of music, animals, Israel and more. She lived a life of conviction and determination and impacted so many along the way. My heart goes out to Ariella’s family during this incredibly difficult time. I am so saddened to hear this news. Ariella was a truly remarkable teacher and friend whose warmth, kindness, and infectious smile brightened every room she entered. She had a special gift for seeing the good in everyone and making people feel valued and appreciated. I will always remember singing and dancing with her and the joy and energy she brought to every moment. Her annual productions were absolutely spectacular, truly Broadway calibre, and reflected the passion, creativity, and love she poured into her students and her work. Ariella touched the lives of so many people, and her kindness and spirit will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Ariella will be missed. She was kind, passionate and had many talents. I met her through her work in animal advocacy. Years ago she invited me to speak to one of her classes about animal rights. She was passionate about teaching and inspiring compassion and learning in younger generations. Hugs to her friends and family.

My deepest condolences to the family for this sad loss. I worked with Ariella at Forest Hill JPS. She was always full of positive energy and zest for helping others! Ms G was a student and staff favourite! The world was blessed to have her impact so many lives. Rest in peace Ariella.

I am shocked to hear of Arjela's passing. I grew up with Arjela (then Lilly)being close friends with my sister. She was always so much fun and always made me feel special and included. Later in life our paths crossed again and she was the same vibrant, free spirited soul as always. My heart is with her family. The world has lost a lovely woman.

I will miss you Ariella!! I was fortunate enough to spend a fun hour with her while visiting Mount Sinai, merely weeks before her passing. She was such a gentle person and I would’ve loved to have seen her again. I also admired how she loved to learn. We spoke about how she was learning Hebrew on Duo Lingo and how I was learning Spanish in class. That was really cool. She was a smart, kind, and beautiful person and will be remembered for these qualities.

Truly the best. My deepest condolences to Ariella Getrajhendler’s family, friends, colleagues, former students, and the entire Forest Hill community. Ms. G. was more than a teacher. She was a force of creativity, kindness, discipline, inclusiveness, and joy. Through nearly twenty school plays and musicals at Forest Hill Public School, and through her continued volunteer work at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute in retirement, she gave thousands of students the confidence to stand taller, speak louder, perform fearlessly, and believe in themselves. Her impact lives on through every student she encouraged, every stage she filled, and every life she helped shape. May her memory be a blessing.
