Never letting disease or disability define him, Barry tackled each health

challenge head-on, like a true sportsman, and earned himself some extra

time. Now the final whistle has blown and he’s conceded, graciously,

surrounded by his team of dedicated supporters.

Treasured son of the late Albert and Cecelia Shour of Johannesburg South Africa.

Beloved bashert of Sharon for more than 55 years.

Adored father of Shayne and papa to Anna.

Cherished brother of Melanie and nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews:

Shoshie, Heather/Hayden, Saul, Leah, Ariel, Talia, Clive, Sophie, Rozanne/Josh, Charlie, Paul

and cousin Adrian.

A hero to his family when he ran through a wall of flame to save his father’s life. A Legend to

his Accounting League soccer team on which he played for over 40 years.

A superior athlete, Barry’s greatest joy was his years of playing soccer on the same teams as

Shayne (B’nai Brith & Deloitte).

Known for his integrity, generous spirit and spontaneous humour, Barry was highly regarded

by colleagues and clients alike. For over twenty years his role was Director of Finance &

Administration at the National Ballet of Canada. In 2023 he was awarded Life Membership by

the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario for long service in good

standing.

The ongoing support, kindness and compassion of caring friends, neighbours and

healthcare providers helped make the unbearable bearable.

On October 7, Barry celebrated his 75th birthday while remembering the victims of 10/7 –
