It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Wayne De Leon, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, who passed away in Toronto on August 26, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on August 1, 1956, in Toronto, David lived a life marked by decency and loyalty towards his loved ones.
David was the son of Albert and Helen, the brother of Phil, and the cousin of Howard. He was a lifelong friend to Erv Weisz and David Ihilchik. David was a gentle soul with a kind disposition. It was easy to see his boundless love for his “sweetie pies,” Blair, Corbin, and Paige. He loved every moment he spent with his grandnieces and nephews, Austin, Benny, Cooper, and Sydney.
A lover of music and the open road, David took frequent road trips throughout the US and Canada while listening to his favourites: Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen. He was an engineer by trade whose life followed machine-like rhythms. David was never late; if you showed up half an hour early, David was already there. David had strong values and lived his life in line with them. David battled cancer with grace and dignity. He never complained, even when navigating myriad setbacks.
A funeral service to honor David’s life will be held at Dawes Road Cemetery on August 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate his life.
