It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Sidney Bader, who died on September 29, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born in Toronto, Donald lived an amazing and fulfilling life, marked by his strength of character, resilience, and, above all, his unwavering love and devotion to his family.

Donald was, above all else, a devoted family man. His love for his family was at the heart of his life. He cared deeply and unconditionally for each person he encountered and had a remarkable ability to form a special and meaningful relationship with every member of his family. He met each of us where we were, understood what made us unique, and made every person feel seen, valued, and loved.

Donald was the beloved husband of Erma, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father and father-in-law to Shawn (Sharon), Jack (Kim), Dov “Dubie” (Amy), and Peninah (David). He was a cherished grandfather to Alex (Philip), Jordyn (Matthew), Eric (Kiera), Sydney, Jaedon, Emily, Jacob, Dylan, Shane, Becca, and Troy.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply. We are beyond grateful to Krista McMeekin, the entire Dialysis Unit at Welland Hospital, the Niagara Dialysis Clinic, all the amazing doctors, nurses, PTs, OTs, and support staff who cared deeply for Donald. Finally, thank you to all the nurses, PSWs, especially Cody and Carly, and Dr. Scher for making Donald’s last moments truly comfortable at home. All the care he has received is beyond imaginable.
