We announce with sadness the passing of Martin Moskovits. Martin passed away after suffering too long from Alzheimer’s disease which devastatingly stole the light from a mind that had long been lit with wit and creativity, brilliance in science, music and art and love of family.

Martin is survived by his beloved wife Linda, his children Steven and Joshua, Allyson and Leslie and grandchildren Shane, Erin, Anika, Aliyah, Asher and Wren as well as his sister Leny Tward and mother Ana oskovits. He had a deep love of family and delighted in his children and grandchildren as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Martin was well known for his brilliant mind and vast curiosity. He was a distinguished scientist and academic who had hundreds of  published papers and was the recipient of many prestigious awards and fellowships. More importantly he was a beloved teacher and mentor to many students and post-doctoral students who remember him fondly for his commitment to their success, his guidance and encouragement.

Martin was also a skilful and enthusiastic musician, loved to cook and read books on any and all subjects. He had a lovely tenor voice and could play any piece of musical theatre by ear on the piano (or recorder!) He was an adept artist who made impressive toys out of paper for his kids when they were young and joined in happily to paint a good mural.

Martin was already and will continue to be greatly missed.
