It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our family’s matriarch Molly Chaiet, who died at home on September 29, 2026 at the age of 97.

Molly was born on October 15, 1928 to Max and Sara Kleinberg (Rosenfeld) in Lagow, Poland.

The family arrived in Canada in 1930 and settled in downtown Toronto. The family home on Harbord Street was the source of many fond memories and mischief with her older sister Sylvia (Sid Sandler) ( ז״ל ), and younger brothers Israel ( ז״ל ) (Constance),  David (ז״ל) and Samuel (Frances).

Molly married the love of her life, Herbert Chaiet, in 1951, with whom she had two sons: Stephen (Adrienne) and Randall (Christine). Molly and Herbert shared 32 loving years together before Herbert’s passing in 1983.

Molly was a beloved sister-in-law to Sybil and Al Litman, and known as Aunt Molly to many nieces and nephews. Molly is survived by her brother Samuel, two sons, and five grandchildren: Daniel, Max, Rachel (Liam Prendergast), Herschel (Michal Coret), and Michael.

Molly’s family and friends were her pride and joy. Spending time with Bubbie Molly, it wasn’t long before you heard stories of her hard working and loving parents; her deep friendship with Sylvia; her brothers’ successes; her devoted and quietly artistic husband Herbert; the joys of raising Stephen and Randall; and the fun she had watching her grandkids grow.

Molly’s family and friends will cherish memories of her sharp wit, warmth, resilience, and generosity.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the PSWs (Julie, Michelle, Olu, Gelli, Faith, Ruth, Maria, and Evelyn), nurses, and physicians who cared for Molly in her final years.
