Zoltan Bencsik

It is with deep sorrow that we inform the community of the passing of Zoltan Bencsik A”H on July 1st. He was the beloved husband of the late Ethel Bencsik (nee Suveg) and the devoted father of Georgina Bencsik.

The funeral was held on Friday, July 3rd, at Steeles Memorial, with interment following at Pardes Chaim Cemetery.

Shiva visits will take place at 94 Avenue Road, Toronto, on Tuesday evening from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by evening services.

Born in Hungary in 1945 and educated in Belgium, Zoltan moved to Canada in early 1960s. With a background in engineering, he had a distinguished career as a machinist starting at De Havilland. He was known for his tenacity, charisma, energy and tireless work ethic, often working long hours to support his family.

Zoltan was an avid sportsman who enjoyed soccer, tennis, skating, swimming, kayaking, skiing, and fishing. In early years went fishing in French River, ice fishing Lake Simcoe and his later years visiting Val-des-Monts, Quebec.  He loved films, particularly foreign films, art,  dance, theatre, trivia, sports, music, world issues (offering solutions to all whom would listen) , animals, and diverse cultural gatherings. He attended with Georgina as a delegate to the first World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg, France and most recent few years attended the International Forum for the Americas and Toronto Global Forum. He was a kind and warm individual who was well-liked by all who met him. A deeply rooted family man, he respected people of all faiths and maintained a profound spiritual connection.
