Al (Zacaria) de Castro, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away in Toronto, Canada on November 28, 2024. Born in Alexandria, Egypt on June 27, 1935, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Known at one time as the condo king of Toronto, Al was ambitious and had a zest for life. His love for travel with his wife, Mimi, took them worldwide, creating unforgettable memories. Al’s passion for food, led him to always relish and savour each meal while planning the next.  His adventurous spirit was matched only by his unwavering devotion to his family.

Al’s magnetic personality and infectious laughter made him the heart of every gathering. His charm and wit endeared him to all. Al’s passing leaves an indelible mark, but his memory will always bring comfort and joy. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Surviving him are his loving wife, Mimi; his three children, Dan, Cindy (Stephen), and Deanne; his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Abigail (Azi), Leora (Mike), Zachary (Rachel), Alex (Laura), Liam, Jonah, Scarlett, and Emilia.  His love and guidance will live on through the generations.

Funeral services will be held at Steeles Memorial Chapel (350 Steeles Avenue West) on Friday, November 29th, 2024, at 12:30 PM. Shiva will take place at 2 Neptune Dr, #703, from 7-9 PM on Saturday, November 30th, and continue on Sunday through Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to Beit Halochem Canada, Aid to Disabled Veterans of Israel at 905-695-0611.
