On Wednesday July 31st , our father passed away suddenly at home.

Cherished husband of Joy (z”l) for almost 57 years. Father to David and Cathie and Jennifer and Noah. Proud Zaidy to Jonah, Caleb, Joshua, and Kate. Son of the late Arthur and Ruth Gryfe. Brother of Hershy (z”l), Moishe (z”l), and Bleemy.

Bernie loved nothing more than telling a joke and creating stories about his family, whether true or fabricated, to make his audience laugh. He loved speaking Yiddish and experienced such pleasure when he found someone who also spoke the language. He was so proud of his long career as a dentist and often could be heard recounting his accomplishments to anyone who would listen. His outward appearance of being stubborn and tough hid an inner tenderness, and he would be the first one with tears rolling down his cheeks during a sad movie scene. Most of all, he was a character and delighted in being the centre of attention.
