Daisy Spiegel

Daisy Spiegel

The Matriarch. In her 92nd year, Daisy Spiegel (nee Saada), our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother has departed this world on her terms surrounded by love. Born to a merchant family in Tripoli, Libya, her life took her through 4 continents, several wars and many years of happiness with her beloved husband, Al Spiegel, the heroic, volunteer soldier, who swept her off her feet during Israel’s War of Independence. They were married on the beaches of Tel Aviv at a different, uncertain time, barely speaking the same language. They settled in Toronto and spent 70 years side-by-side, devoted to each other and their family. The strength of our beloved matriarch has been passed through the generations, instilling the values of family, tradition, entrepreneurialism, and of course, good food. She will be deeply missed by those she touched, but we are here now to celebrate her amazing life and keep her wisdom, stories, and humour with us.

Daisy is survived by her three devoted daughters (and their partners): Linda (Murray), Corrine (Jonathan), Michelle (Alan), her adoring grandchildren: Rachel (Adam), Darrah (Sebastian), Ezra (Lisa) , Carly (Jordan), Zachary (Ilana), Joshua (Safi), Joanna (Brett), David (Marie), Daniel (Maya), and her cute great grandchildren: Lewis, Julius, Lia, Miriam, Liam, Alejandro.
