Jules Leonard Silver

Jules Leonard Silver  (March 22, 1926 to March 6, 2017). It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Jules Silver on Monday, March 6, at The Village of Humber Heights Long-term care, aged 90.  Jules leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Eva.  He will be dearly missed by his son Lawrence (Sandra), his cousin Adele (Philip) and his beloved grandchild Emily. Jules will always be remembered for the gift of his spirit, energy, caring, and drive that he possessed and displayed throughout his life, a gift honored and cherished by his loving wife.  The joy, laughter, and guidance he provided to his son Larry and his wife Sandra is ever present in their lives. Jules was born in Timmins and lived with loving parents Sol and Lena for the first 20 years of his life.  It was there that he began his ever-present work ethic in his first job in the family bus and gas station business.  He then moved to Toronto to begin his own life, where soon after he met his wife Eva at the Sunnyside pavilion and began a family with his son Larry.  A main focus of Jules life was his work and his career at the post-office, where he worked for over 25 years.  He always strived tirelessly to better himself and the life of his family, working many hours to make sure that his wife and son had everything they wanted. He was a big presence at the Foresters, and was always more than willing to discuss their activities with one and all. Even after he retired, he continued to pursue jobs in various committees at the Foresters, and later on at The Village of Humber Heights.  He loved to play a role in helping people and making their lives better.  Even in his last years of life, he took up photography, exercise, and serving on residence committees.  Jules had a great sense of humour and always had a big smile for all.  He loved to talk with his many varied friends, having many interesting conversations with them.  One of his biggest joys was being a loving grandfather to Emily, and when she was little he was right there in the dirt with her playing games, or reading books to her.  Gifts of love and other things would be brought with every visit.  Jules visits usually were greeted by Larry’s jumping family dog at the door.  Jules lived a full and fruitful life, and his warm and caring spirit lives on in the memory of all the friends and family whose lives have been touched by him. We also greatly appreciate the kindness and support of the wonderful staff of Islington Village at The Village of Humber Heights, who made his stay with them a truly fulfilling experience.
