Selwyn Collins

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr. Selwyn Collins on October 24, 2022 at the age of 93 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Frances (Alter), loving father to Melissa Collins (Roger) and Jonathan Collins (Ashkan). Son of Mark (z”l) and Helen (z”l) (Bernhardt) Collins.

Dear brother and brother in-law of Shirley and Sidney Allweis (z”l) of Manchester, England and Ronnee and Lloyd (z”l) Alter of London, Ontario. Caring uncle to nephews and nieces. Honorary grandfather to Daniel and Lauren. Will be deeply missed by Michael and Jonathan.

A humble man whose generous heart also extended to all his patients who he cared for during over 40 years in practice.

His greatest joy other than his family was helping people, teaching others and making people laugh.

A special thank you to his dedicated personal caregivers, his homecare team and Dr. Chung who was both his colleague for 40 years and later his physician.

He will be immensely missed and forever loved.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Shiva Details:
Shiva visits following the interment will be at 7300 Yonge Street, Thornhill (rear entrance to the building) until 4:30 p.m. and then from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:00 p.m. Shiva will continue on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:00 p.m. Shiva will also be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., concluding that evening.

Masks are mandatory for the funeral graveside service and shiva.
