Alex Strasser

In addition to the in-person service at the chapel, the funeral will also be live-streamed. To view the service virtually, please go to https://smclive.ca/ on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Alexander (Shlomo) Strasser, the patriarch of the Strasser Family, at 92 years old on Saturday, December 13th in Toronto.

Alex was the devoted soulmate of Ester Strasser (z”l), father to Jay and Reesa, Ronnie and Sabrina, and Henry. He was the proudest Saba to Sam and Rebecca, Lauren, Stanton and Stephanie, Arielle and Daniel, Oliver and Maddie, Abigail, Chloe; and great-grandfather to Orly, Adina, Akiva, Yitzy, Estelle and Ashton. Dear brother and brother-in-law to Susan and John Karol (z”l) and Hanni and Hanoch Gilad, and Rina Cohen (z”l).

Born in Hungary in 1933, he was a brilliant entrepreneur, and a man of great character and ambition. He immigrated to Israel in 1940 where he later met the love of his life, Ester, and together they forged a path for their family and business to grow and prosper in Canada. His life was replete with love and purpose, expressed through the family he built and the values he upheld. He was a Tzadik in the truest form: his righteousness was expressed quietly through his actions, generosity, integrity, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.

Our Saba was a giant of a man. It’s hard to imagine a world without him; he will be thoroughly missed by those who were lucky enough to be in his orbit.
