Marvin Lavine

Marvin Robert Lavine, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and close friend, passed away on October 23, 2025, in Vaughan, Ontario. Born in Toronto on June 6, 1934, Marvin leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Marvin was a devoted husband of 68 years to his beloved wife, Rose Lavine, and a loving father to his son, Mark Lavine , a cherished father-in-law to Lorna Lavine, and a doting grandfather to Logan and Marlie Lavine.  He was also a loving father to his daughter, Debi Lavine and her partner, John Bielby. His presence in their lives brought immeasurable joy and warmth, and his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to his family.

In addition to his immediate family, Marvin is survived by his sister, Barbara Oretsky, brother-in-law, Howard Oretsky and niece Robyn Oretsky. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his extended family and friends, as his gentle nature and compassionate spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.

Marvin will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his quick wit, and his keen intelligence. He had a remarkable ability to engage in thoughtful conversations about world issues and was always eager to share his knowledge with others. His passion for learning and understanding the world around him was evident in every interaction, and his wisdom will be sorely missed.

In his leisure time, Marvin found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for fishing, finding solace and tranquility in the great outdoors. He also had a fascination with collecting knives and gadgets, finding beauty in the craftsmanship and functionality of each piece. His appreciation for the small joys in life was a testament to his humble and grateful spirit.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Viva Retirement Residence for their unwavering support and care. Their compassion and dedication brought comfort and peace to Marvin and his family during a challenging time.

Memorial donations may be made to any charity of your choice, honoring Marvin’s legacy of kindness and generosity.

Marvin Robert Lavine will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
