Chaim Hymie Shiel January 7, 1929 – June 25, 2025.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chaim Hymie Shiel at the age of 96, on June 25th, 2025. Loving son of the late Jacob and Chana Shilkowsky z”l. Devoted husband of 66 years to Freda. Cherished father of Roslyn and David Hirschhorn, Jay and and Mindy Shiel, Susan an Reuven Epstein and Samuel and Chava Shiel. Brother and brother- in law to Eva and the late  Marvin Loskove z”l and Paula and the late Arnold Gassel z”l.

Beloved Zaida to Sean, Tara, Sheera, Yair, Eliana, Naftali, Avi, Elka, Elisheva, Mitchell, Chaya Renana a”h, Michaela, Shlomo, Daniella, Talia, Benjamin, Noa, Michal, Akiva, Yonatan, Yael, Dovid, Saritti, Ita and Meira.  Adored by his many great grandchildren.

As an educator in Winnipeg and a beloved member of the Winnipeg Jewish community, he took joy in shul life. After retiring and moving to Toronto, he was a member of Aish Hatorah Thornhill and an active participant in the Bayt Daf Yomi Shiur. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
