Michael Levy

The recording of the funeral service can be viewed directly at https://vimeo.com/1050602540. The recording will remain accessible for 90 days.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Michael David Levy announces his sudden passing on January 22, 2025. Beloved father of Russell and Daniel, loving partner of Lisa Gordon, devoted son of Norman Levy and the late Judith Levy (née Ballon), and adored brother of Dawn Levy (and Al Vandenbussche). Michael was loved by his nephews, bonus children, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. A lifelong educator, he was dedicated to the growth and development of his students both in the classroom and in extra-curricular sport. In the latter years of his career, as president of the Association of Hebrew School Teachers, he dedicated himself to advocating for educational professionals. Michael was also an avid athlete and sports enthusiast. In addition to playing summer ball, he made a profound impact as the president of the Thornhill Slow Pitch Softball League, where he immersed himself in the comradery of his teammates. His love of the outdoors, and his passion for spending time at his cottage, stemmed from his youth as a camper at the Y Country Camp in the Laurentians and thorough experiential education activities during his high school years at West Island College in Montreal.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory can be made to The Y Country Camp  (https://ycountrycamp.com/support-us/) or Leo Baeck Day School (https://www.leobaeck.ca/)

Send a donation in your loved one’s name and benefit a great cause in their honour.
