Sookie Wiseman

Sara “Sookie” Wiseman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 27, 2024. She was born on October 11, 1927, and lived a remarkable 96 years.

Sookie, as she was affectionately known, was the matriarch of the family. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Ben, and a loving mother to her daughter, Jody, and son-in-law, Greg. Her grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley, and their spouses, Sarah and Korey, along with her great-grandchildren, Ava, Noa, Ezra, and Kasey, were her greatest joy.

Sookie’s love extended beyond her immediate family, as she cherished her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Her dear friend, Rhoda Shack, was a constant source of companionship, and their bond was a testament to the enduring power of friendship.

Sookie enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a passion for travel, an appreciation for the arts, and a deep love for opera. Sookie’s greatest past time, however, came from making memories with her family and friends.

The funeral service to honor Sookie’s legacy will be held on Thursday, February 29th, at 10:30am at Steeles Memorial Chapel. Interment is at Dawes Road Cemetery, followed by lunch at 58 Elmsthorpe Ave. The shiva will commence Thursday evening from 7-9pm at 58 Elmsthorpe Ave, and continue onto Friday from 2-4pm and Saturday from 7:30-9:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sookie’s memory to the Baycrest Foundation.

Sookie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, laughter, and wisdom will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Memorial donations may be made to the Baycrest Foundation (https://baycrestfoundation.org/).
