Florence Shulman

Florence (Faggie) Shulman passed away on March 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication. Born on March 17, 1930, in Toronto, Ontario, Florence was the loving sister of Kalia and sister-in-law to Adele. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Esther Shulman, as well as her brothers Gordon (Minnie), Philip, Max, Norman, and sisters Jennie (John), Rose (Simon), Shirley (Izzie), and Mina (Barney). Florence was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss her presence in their lives.

Florence’s impact extended beyond her family, as she dedicated her life to education and service. She began her career at Imperial Life before transitioning to teaching in 1961. Her students held a special place in her heart, and she was known for her firm yet caring approach to education. Florence’s commitment to personal growth was evident in her pursuit of knowledge, earning her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 1966, her Special Education Specialist in 1967, and her Teachers Certificate in 1978, despite it not being required.

Her love for learning extended to her travels, where she immersed herself in different cultures, embracing their native dances and folk history. Folk dancing was one of her greatest passions, and she shared her joy for it with those around her.

Florence’s generosity and fairness were hallmarks of her character. She consistently placed the needs of others above her own, offering unwavering support to her family and friends. Her generosity touched the lives of many, everyone always knew they could count on her for support.

The funeral service for Florence will be held at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave W, Thornhill, ON. Family will be received at 10:00 am, with the service beginning at 10:30 am. Following the service, there will be a Graveside Service at 11:30 am at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 986 Wilson Ave, North York. A reception will follow at 95 Wigmore Drive, Toronto.

Florence (Faggie) Shulman will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire future generations.
